Supporting the Region by Preparing the Workforce

Indian Hills Community College joins together the counties that comprise Iowa South with an educational focus on changing lives by inspiring learning and regional economic advancement.

“If you are looking for a place to launch or grow your career or business, we want you in Iowa South.”

“Students that come to Indian Hills have a large variety of options – all of which are going to provide them with life-changing career opportunities,” says Ashley Moyer, executive director for Continuing Education & Workforce Solutions. “Indian Hills has more than 50 career and technical degree programs, making it possible for the college to provide a skilled workforce for the area.”

Moyer says juniors and seniors attending public high school in the Iowa South region are eligible to enroll in concurrent classes tuition-free at Indian Hills. “Students who take advantage of this option have a jump-start on their future degree. What’s even better, students and their families save time and money. In the 2019/2020 academic year 2,251 students participated in the concurrent enrollment program. Those students completed more than 30,000 credits and saved $5.4 million dollars in tuition.”

In addition to degree programs, Indian Hills welcomes many students pursuing a new skill set or enhanced professional development. “Through our continuing education and workforce solutions program, we provide short-term certificate programs, as well as customized training for existing employees,” Moyer says. “The college is very committed to helping our regional economy grow and works closely with area employers and economic development offices to help shape curriculum to meet workforce demands.”

Moyer concludes, “If you are looking for a place to launch or grow your career or business, we want you in Iowa South.”
